What: Fiduciary Training Seminar
This event is hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerice and presented by Barnes & Thornburg LLP and ProCourse Fiduciary Advisors
When: Sept. 26, 2013 | 9 a.m. - Noon (ET)
Where: Indiana Chamber Conference Center - Indianapolis
Program Overview: As a sponsor of a qualified retirement plan, it is becoming increasingly important that Fiduciary Committees receive annual fiduciary training. The Department of Labor (DOL) is frequently auditing retirement plans, and one critical piece of information that auditors are looking for is evidence of sufficient and annual fiduciary training for the plans’ committee members.
Not only is it a fiduciary responsibility to participate in annual training, but attending events such as this aids in fostering best practices for fiduciaries. As with any industry, change is constant. This session will ensure plan sponsors are knowledgeable and up-to-date on any current and pending ERISA and DOL regulations.
The session will be divided into three separate hour-long sessions. The first will be comprised of a general fiduciary overview. Discussing topics ranging from who a fiduciary is, and what types of responsibilities fiduciaries hold. This session will be presented by Barnes and Thornburg ERISA Attorney, Mike Paton.
