Duke Law Bolch Judicial Institute Mass Tort MDL Certificate

Partner Michael C. Zogby served on the faculty of Duke Law’s Bolch Judicial Institute Mass Tort MDL Certificate, which was held on Nov. 7-8, 2022. Established in 2019 by the late Duke Law Professor Francis McGovern, the Mass Tort MDL Certificate is designed to expand and diversify the field of attorneys capable of handling mass tort and multidistrict litigation.

The course faculty included leading judges, practitioners, and professors in the field of complex litigation, affording participants a unique opportunity to gain practical insight from key players into the lifecycle and management of mass torts. The course is comprehensive, balanced, and includes a breakout session by party, which enables participants to discuss sensitive issues and interact with preeminent practitioners from their side of the “v.”

Mike serves as partner in charge of Barnes & Thornburg’s New Jersey and Philadelphia offices. Mike represents major pharmaceutical, medical device, life sciences, biotechnology, and chemical companies in product liability and mass tort matters alleging negligence, failure to warn, strict liability, design and manufacturing defects, fraud, consumer protection, breach of warranty, wrongful death, and punitive damages. In addition, Mike counsels clients in the U.S., Asia, and Europe on a variety of privacy, security, and e-discovery issues. He coordinates cross-border trial issues and discovery involving multidistrict litigation in highly regulated industries.

Mike is a member of the board of directors of the Product Liability Advisory Council and as a trustee of the Trial Attorneys of America and Trial Attorneys of New Jersey. He serves on the faculty of the National Trial Advocacy College at the University of Virginia School of Law, and has participated on trial ethics and cybersecurity programs at Fordham University School of Law and mass tort and proportionality programs at George Washington University School of Law.
