They Said What?! Tips for Avoiding Headaches at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board

Linda Kuczma, Corrine Conway, Michelle Mikol and Deborah Pollack-Milgate presented a webinar through the ChIPs Webinar Accelerator Program, "They Said What?! Tips for Avoiding Headaches at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).” Deborah, as moderator, orchestrated a well-rounded discussion of some of the nuances involved in handling cases before the TTAB with insight from Linda, a former TTAB judge. Michelle offered perspectives on not only the similarities, but also more importantly, the differences between litigating in the district courts versus the TTAB. Corrine addressed recent TTAB decisions, including a decision regarding the sometimes overlooked but critical “standing” issue and two divergent cases on the registrability of building designs. ChIPs is a nonprofit community connecting women in intellectual property and technology law and policy with over 5,000 supporters and 25 chapters.
