The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) has named Barnes & Thornburg as a finalist for its 2023 Thomas L. Sager Award. Sager Awards are presented to law firms in three categories and highlight “the winning firms’ commitment to building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive legal industry that benefits everyone.”
Barnes & Thornburg is one of 20 finalists in the category for firms with more than 650 lawyers. The award finalists are selected based on the firms’ MCCA Law Firm Diversity Survey submission and resulting Diversity Scorecard, which capture demographic data, leadership composition, retention, and promotion of women and diverse lawyers. This is the first year that qualitative activities and trends beyond the data were taken into account.
Presented since 1999, the Sager Award is named after former DuPont senior vice president and general counsel, Thomas L. Sager, who is a pioneer in increasing diversity in the legal profession via a model for the hiring, retention, and promotion of women and diverse attorneys.
This year’s award recipients will be announced at the MCCA’s Diversity Gala in New York City on October 11.
