The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), which recognizes law firms and corporations that show a strong commitment to building a more inclusive legal profession, named Barnes & Thornburg as a 2023 Top Performer and Compass Award recipient.
The awards recognize entities that show a strong commitment to building organizations that are more diverse and a more inclusive legal profession. The Top Performer award recognizes those organizations in the top 20 percent for participation in LCLD programs and activities, and the Compass Award recognizes organizations that fulfill all of the following requirements in a single calendar year:
- Member (Managing Partner/General Counsel) engagement with LCLD
- Nominate an LCLD Fellow
- Nominate an LCLD Pathfinder
- Participate in an LCLD Pipeline program (the 1L Scholars Program or the Success in Law School Mentoring Program)
The firm has a long-standing relationship with LCLD, participating in a majority of its programs over the years. The firm nominated attorneys for participation in 2023 leadership programs including Adetayo Osuntogun for the LCLD Fellows program and Alyssa Hughes and Mihran Yezbekyan for the Pathfinders program.
Andy Detherage, the firm’s managing partner, pledged his commitment to the organization’s Leaders at the Front initiative this year, his first as firm managing partner. The initiative asks firm managing partners for personal commitments to DEI and to implement organizational changes that are specific, meaningful and measurable.
“Being recognized by LCLD with the Compass and Performer Awards is an honor,” said Dawn R. Rosemond, firm diversity partner. “We look forward to the next year of continued collaboration with LCLD and prioritization of incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into the way we do business at Barnes & Thornburg.”
