I AM...
- Still a hockey player at heart. I love the competitive and gritty nature and the team-first culture – those values have served me well in my law career
- The oldest of six kids raised in a small town in North Dakota by a county prosecutor and a teacher
- A computer scientist and wrote my master’s thesis on usage mining and recommender systems back before those things were called big data and data analytics
- A professor at the University of Minnesota Law School where I teach intellectual property
- Actively involved in the Minneapolis/St. Paul startup community
- Fascinated by the intersection of innovation, entrepreneurship and law
- A golfer that has learned over the years to embrace the patience and risk management required of the game
- A self-taught chef. The highlight of my holidays is planning and preparing feasts for family and friends
- A husband to my wife of 21 years, father to two sons and a daughter, and the only one that Duke the dog listens to at home
- A huge University of North Dakota hockey fan and am Iowa Hawkeyes football curious. My oldest was born at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and we like to see The Wave after the first quarter.
