Sam’s practice focuses on helping clients resolve disputes in a variety of industries before trial or arbitration becomes necessary. Where litigation is the best path forward, Sam guides his clients through virtually every stage of the dispute, from discovery to motion practice to conclusion.
Sam’s litigation experience includes resolving disputes in the areas of commercial contracts, labor & employment, construction, fraud, products liability, and insurance. His clients have ranged from individuals to Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 corporations. Sam has practiced in state and federal courts nationwide and has experience trying cases to conclusion by jury verdict. A skilled writer, Sam has taken the lead in drafting and presenting numerous critical briefs and motions, including federal appellate papers, motions for summary judgment, and trial briefs. He also has experience with arbitrating and mediating disputes and negotiating favorable settlements.
An active member of the Chicago pro-bono community, Sam has represented asylum seekers, federal criminal defendants, and victims of domestic abuse. While in law school, Sam served as an extern for the National Immigrant Justice Center and an intern in the Executive Office of the President in Washington, D.C., where he focused on matters of international trade for the U.S. Trade Representative. Sam also served as the head coach of the University of Notre Dame Debate Team. He regularly mentors law and pre-law students.
When not practicing law, Sam can be found sailing on Lake Michigan or hiking with his family.
