Lisa Fazzino works with Barnes & Thornburg’s attorneys and clients on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution and patent application drafting. Lisa enjoys helping clients find strategies to achieve their patent and business goals.

As an experienced patent agent, Lisa offers a deep technical background in microbiology, virology, molecular biology, genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, pathogenesis, evolutionary biology and ecology.

In addition to drafting patents in the biological sciences and biotech arenas, Lisa performs patent landscape and freedom-to-operate searches.

Prior to joining the firm, Lisa was a patent agent at an AmLaw 20 firm, where she assisted clients with drafting and prosecuting life science patent applications. Additionally, Lisa received her Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Minnesota and studied how bacterial viruses affect complex microbial communities. Before graduate school, Lisa studied the molecular genetics of Lyme disease-causing bacteria at the National Institute of Health’s Rocky Mountain Laboratory.

Outside of the office, Lisa enjoys cooking and anything that gets her outside, especially rock climbing, canoeing, and hiking.
