Heli-Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center

Mary Comazzi presented on two different topics at the Helicopter Association International (HAI) Heli-Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. More than 12,400 industry professionals from 97 countries attended the four-day expo. Mary led a panel, “FAQs in Aviation Law,” which drew more than 45 attendees. Mary and the other panelists answered questions with respect to aviation transactions, ownership and operational structures, federal excise-tax planning, state sales and use tax planning, depreciation planning and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory requirements and enforcement matters. Mary also presented on “Reimbursements Under Part 91: Myth Versus Reality,” which was a part of the Rotor Safety Challenge and drew nearly 30 attendees. The session helped to clarify proper structuring in response to a major crackdown by the FAA and the Internal Revenue Service on alleged “Illegal charter” operations and “sham” dry leases.
