Max has a diverse background in Indiana government and politics. He uses this background to assist in a wide variety of bond transactions for state and local governmental entities. He also advises on regulatory matters and assists clients with public finance and economic development activities, government contracting, and legislative efforts.
With a knack for helping clients understand how legislation, politics, and government policies affect their business, Max knows the value of clear communication.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Max worked as a staff attorney for the Indiana House of Representatives, where he drafted and advised on state legislation. He also was an attorney law fellow for Indiana University. As an attorney for IU, Max managed various litigation matters and drafted agreements involving employment issues, student affairs, and contractual disputes. He also advised university clients on employment matters, litigation, and contract negotiations.
While in law school, Max was a judicial intern for a federal magistrate judge at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and a legal intern for Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb’s general counsel team.
