Maya has served as legal counsel for nonprofits both as in-house counsel and in private practice. She is committed to helping these organizations achieve their missions.
Maya advises clients on a wide range of matters, including contracts, tax, governance, political law, and grants. Her goal is to provide realistic solutions that balance risk mitigation with business objectives.
Notably, Maya has deep experience in hospitality contract matters. She regularly negotiates and drafts agreements and oversees contract management processes. She is particularly skilled with contracts for domestic and international conventions, conferences, and trade shows that require meeting, hotel, vendor and event agreements. Her versatility allows her to grasp the nuances of each commercial contract, meeting and event agreement, and license agreement.
Maya also advises nonprofit organizations on matters related to programs and operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. She is skilled in providing counsel on state laws related to board governance, and reviewing and revising governing documents, board reports and related materials. She also advises nonprofits on entity formation and tax issues.
