LOS ANGELES – Kevin Rising has been named the new managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s Los Angeles office, where he has practiced since 2011. Rising, one of the original six founding members of the firm’s Los Angeles office, will oversee the office’s strategic growth and management. He succeeds David Allen, who will remain on the firm’s Management Committee but is stepping down from office leadership to focus on client work.
“Since the Los Angeles office’s establishment nearly 12 years ago, Kevin has played a key role in driving growth and there’s no doubt that he will continue this momentum as he steps into this new position.” said Andy Detherage, firm managing partner. “Kevin is an exceptional leader and I’m confident that he’ll continue the impressive trajectory that David has set for the firm on the West Coast.”
Rising focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, including contractual disputes and business torts, partnership and fiduciary litigation, consumer class action defense, multidistrict litigation, product liability and torts. With an active trial practice, he has served as trial counsel for plaintiffs and defendants in numerous high-stakes jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations.
In addition to office managing partner, Rising will also continue his role as co-chair of the Consumer Class Action Defense Practice Group.
“It’s an honor to succeed David in this position, and I’m excited to continue to raise the firm’s profile in Los Angeles and bolster our investment in client service alongside a talented group of colleagues,” said Rising.
