Rocky advises businesses on a wide variety of patent-related initiatives, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications and the development and commercialization of patent families and portfolios. He is also called upon to render patentability opinions and freedom-to-operate analyses.
Rocky has experience with many computer technologies, including computer security and encryption, applications software, system software, networking, distributed computing systems, and digital logic circuit design. His experience includes preparation of patent applications including wireless networking technologies such as noise mitigation for wireless antennas and other signal processing algorithms, edge cloud computing and other wireless network architectures, compression algorithms, mobile device applications, and other technologies. Rocky focuses on working productively and efficiently with Patent Office examiners.
He is dedicated to identifying the unique attributes that define his client’s innovation and writes patents that seek to avoid prior art, safeguard his client’s product in the broadest way possible, and allow for some flexibility for the future.
Before attending law school, Rocky worked as a software developer for August Mack Environmental, Inc., an environmental engineering consulting firm in Indianapolis. In that capacity, Rocky designed and implemented compliance systems for environmental regulations, particularly for manufacturing facilities. Notably, his first-hand engineering experience working directly with inventors, businesses owners, and managers helps him to better understand how his clients’ businesses operate, as well as how their products are developed and made distinguishable.
